My deepest apologies for being away for so long and denying my readers the opportunity to enjoy a little bit of cloth diaper drama.
As it turns out, the day I arrive back in town, I find a doozy. This one will go in the hall of fame! I'm sure this mama will be tickled pink that she is famous. For your enjoyment:

Jen of Jen's Gems ( http://hyenacart.com/JensGems/ ) writes:
Seriously!!! Is it TOO MUCH to ask to get what you ACTUALLY order from
a store???? Especially when It takes FOREVER to get here????? I am
MAD!!! I've waited and WAITED for these wipes...(splurged with some $$
that could have been saved towards xmas) only to get RIPPED OFF!
Read this.....
http://www.nothingbuttcloth.com/cata...categ ory%3D6
and tell me what you think by ordering from that page what you will
get. Double-sided velour wipes, right? WRONG!!! You get ONE side velour
and ONE side FLANNEL!!! If I had wanted that I could have gotten them
from any number of online stores but hers was the only one I could find that did 2 sided velour.
So I paid for and was CHARGED FOR 1 dozen DOUBLE SIDED velour
wipes.....and basically got half of what I paid for. I am SO mad.

When asked if she has contacted the work at home mom about this, her reply:
yes, but OF COURSE its the weekend.
I won't hear from them at LEAST til Monday. (not holding my breath though)
Also...even if they try to replace it with the RIGHT order....who KNOWS
when it will get here with the holidays and the USPS going at the speed
of a snail.
Thing is...they are BEAUTIFUL wipes. Nice a big and soft....but they
were NOT what I ordered. I could see if I got like half of them 1 sided
and half double sided (like maybe she ran out and had to substitue-but
I still would have expected her to at least email me to ASK if I wanted
my money refuded or my order substituted)....but they were all
1 sided velour. Now I wished I had just saved my blasted money and
bought some goodmama wipes. I was going back and forth between these
and GM wipes....and ended up going with these b/c they were
double-sided and that was what I REALLY wanted.
Lesson learned....go with your gut instict.
It must be very hard for Jen to wait a day or two to hear from somebody.
So, others jump in with their spam for other work at home moms, and what a perfect opportunity to do so. One reply even says, "wow. not cool i'd be mad too. *sigh* hopefully they'll make it right
for you somehow. i think they should send you the right ones, let you
keep the ones you have, AND give you a bit of a refund.. but i know
that's asking too much haha"
To which our friend, Jen replies,
"If they will just send me the right ones & let me keep the ones I have...I would say forget a refund. SIGH."
Wow, Jen must be a saint! She will accept a new set, and the ones that were sent to her. Then she will be nice and forget about a refund as well. That's so nice of her not to expect everything for free. She only expects half for free.
A big Hooray for two mamas on this entire thread who actually make sense.
KGreenG, "Yes, that IS asking a bit much. She sells both kinds and obviously
screwed up the order. It happens. Email the wahm and sort it out with
her before going on a public forum and crucifying her. There has been
so much of this on this forum lately. What's up with people lately? How
can wahm's give good CS if they aren't given a chance to do so?
" And
Eapoosmama, "Is this three page complaint over wipes for real???? Especially when
the wahm was not contacted first??? Not having business hours on the
weekend or at the drop of a dime is really not warrenting

this much frustration.
If money was needed for x-mas than maybe the wipes should have waited.
I know I surely would be choosing food over 'velour' wipes when funds
may be stretched.
I almost want to send the yard of velour out just to get this thread redirected to better energy.
If only wipes could be my biggest worry. sighhhhhhhhhh" And who couldn't agree with them more?
This is an example of shameless self promotion while cutting down another work at home mom. Enjoy!:
http://www.diaperswappers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=269298
So, it starts out innocent, somebody is looking for Cuddlebuns diapers on babies to see fit.
Then just a very subtle self spam...
"
I have some Traditional Fit and one Bikini Cut listed at www.GranolaChicksRing.com
right now, if you wanted to see the difference. Of course they're not
action shots, though! Those would probably be more helpful, huh?"
Then she goes on a fishing trip to see if she can figure out who this person purchased from that wasn't her.
"But I think you found someone to take your custom CB order, right? May I ask which CuddleWAHM you found available? May? Sophie? Inquiring minds want to know (because I'm opening a congo of CuddleWAHMs very soon and maybe they would want to join)."
It seems innocent, until you realize her intentions.... to cut that person down.
Somebody goes on to say that Kira and Anne make theirs slightly different. Another person mentions that the fit is the same, the elastic is just pulled tighter on Anne's.
Reading on, Anne's subtle self promotion, her friends obvious promotion of her, etc. It gets sappy and disgusting.
Then, one of Anne's fans post a picture of just how different the diapers are between Anne and Kira. It is clear looking at the photo that one of "Anne's Fans" positioned the diapers differently, snapped them differently, etc, in order to make the difference a dramatic one. Good job, Anne's Fan! Unfortunately, most of us can tell.
But some are easily fooled:
"I can't believe the difference!! I really hope that my customs aren't that huge.
I just should have waited for Anne to open for customs. No, I'll just hope they'll all be fine. I had some CBs that weren't bikini cut and they are pretty big. I still like them, but love the narrower crotch."
But Ohhh, it gets thick in here:
Straight from Anne "As far as the sizing issues go, we CuddleWAHMs are all working from the same pattern and were were all required to submit a sample of our work to BabyByYou (the pattern holder / licensor) so our CuddleBuns should in fact all be the same size. It's possible that how tightly we apply the elastic can make a difference (and if we use Lastin like I do versus polybraid which some WAHMs may be using) since Lastin gathers the fabric more ..it is stretchier IMO, and perhaps how much we shave off when serging the edges may make a bit of a difference as well. How much the fabric shrinks could affect it too but we are all supposed to be working with pre-washed fabric. We prewash it to care of shrinkage before sewing it. There really should NOT be major variations in fit between makers. I just measured my pattern template and the rise is 19". I also measured four CuddleBuns diapers (one brand new that I made, one well-used that I made several years ago, one well-used made by another CuddleWAHM who is no longer in biz, and one extremely well-used that was made by the originial CuddleBuns designer Susan Dodge-Doak. The rise on the first three is all 19" when you stretch the diaper out flat. The rise on the extemely well-used (it's around 8 or 9 years old and made completely of hemp jersey which we all know shrinks over time) is 18.5". Incidentally, the Lastin elastic on that 8 year old hemp CuddleBuns diaper is still good!!!
I have no idea why that one Clothmo CuddleBuns appears so much larger
than mine. Kira has an excellent reputation and great feedback and a
huge following, so I don't know what to say. Maybe the elastic is
stretched out?? Maybe she accidentally used the CuddleWrap cover
pattern by mistake.
When I open my CuddleBuns Boutique (which will be located at www.CuddleBunsBoutique.com
and hosted by Congocart, not HC) I will make sure each of us lists our
meaurements. It will probably be in the About our WAHMs section. That's
a great suggestion, so thanks! Hopefully you will not experience any
difference in fit between each of our diapers. They're supposed to fit
the same.
ETA: In case anyone is wondering, the Bikini Cut is the same pattern as the Traditional Fit, except it is narrower through the crotch by two inches. The internal soaker pad and any external doublers are also narrower to match the fit of the diaper. "
She is trying so hard to promote herself shamelessly while making Kira look stupid. Kira has been in business a good long time, as we all know, and has a great reputation. She does not accidentally use the wrong pattern. This is an example of shameless self promotion by trying to tarnish the reputation of another person.
So Kira comes on in her own defense:
"Hey ladies.
The Clothmo diaper in the picture is actually a "regular cut"
CuddleBuns so it's going to be wider, as the pattern dictates. Here's
another picture of the same diaper with it's "bikini cut" counterpart:
http://hyenacart.com/prod_details.php?id=58333&vid=1062
I think if you look at the posted picture again you can see that Anne pulls her elastic a bit tighter than I do and Anne's diaper is acutally placed a little lower in the shot than mine. I most certainly don't mix up my patterns, I use high quality elastic and I have excellent feedback (including a liberal return policy for unused items) so I would hope that customers feel they can shop confidently with me!
CuddleBuns are great diapers regardless of who you purchase them from
and I'm really happy to see their popularity return. We used CuddleBuns
from many different WAHMs when I was diaper my dd and loved them all.
~Kira" And kudos to her for sounding so eloquent when faced with such rudeness.
And the threads go on with more shameless self promotion by Anne.
So, two thumbs down for Anne of Little Boppers for her shameless self promotion, tacky spam, and trying to knock down other work at home moms.
Work at home moms don't make a ton of money, and all of them are trying to stay above water. The best way to promote yourself, Anne, is to make a great product, advertise it, and be kind to others.
I find this one interesting:
http://hyenacart.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=63275
She purchased some yarn and it didn't match the colors on her screen. It is common knowledge that different screens look different, and colors will never match exactly. So, she made a mistake and now she has to be very rude about it, as though the yarn dyer didn't dye the yarn right.
When will it ever end?
One of the best places to find diapering drama is Diaper Swappers. This is where we will start:
You don't have to look far to find this one
http://www.diaperswappers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=271910
It's a fun read, frustrating, sad, etc. People lost money, mom is in over her head, etc. Then you see the bottom of the mom's signature, " BANNED FOR BAD TRANSACTION, Serger sold to member, never shipped - then trying to resell same item without refunding." http://www.diaperswappers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=261909 That's not a good move. First, she opens up business selling diapers for $5 each, which is about half what it costs to make them. She is losing money out the wazoo, so obviously never tried adding it up to see what it costs to run her business before deciding on her prices. The Diaper Swappers moms are always on the hunt for a deal that is too good to be true, and snatched up these $5 diapers by the dozens. Hey folks, guess what? You really do get what you pay for! --- and sometimes you aren't even that lucky.
I started this blog because I find it wildly entertaining to watch the drama on cloth diapering forums. Seeing work at home moms with their shameless self promotion, degrading other work at home moms, etc, I wonder if they realize how bitchy they look? Let's watch and enjoy...
